IEEE Student Branch at The University of Texas at Austin

Along with the GEC, ASME, and ASCE, we have been selected to receive a $500 Friends of Alec Student Organization Grant for this semester in order to purchase replacement components and upgrade our computer equipment. If anyone has any particular suggestions as to what needs to be fixed the most, please leave a comment.

I upgraded Drupal to core version 6.1 to address security issues. There were no issues during the upgrade; total downtime was ~5 minutes. Read more about the update at the main Drupal page.

I recently received information about the 2008 Del Mar Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, which takes place at the end of this week. While it's a little late for us to participate in the competition this year, it would be really cool if the IEEE Student Branch could do something like this next year. Anyone interested?

After a week of downtime following a pwned server and just in time for E-Week, the new IEEE Student Branch site is up and running! Look forward to many new features which will be rolled out over the course of the upcoming week, including a new set of forums, a refreshed test bank system, and an events calendar.

As accounts have not been carried over from our old system, everyone needs to register new accounts to participate in the forums and comment on stories.

This is definitely a work in progress. Expect improvements and changes as the week goes by.
